Conductor・Brass Coach:

 Katsumi Hagiya

 

     Katsumi Hagiya was born in Ibaragi prefecture. He initially studied piano, trumpet, and trombone before pursuing his career. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, he got a master's degree in Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of  Music Study faculty,  trombone  department.  He is now teaching trombone in Shobi University. For 35 years, he was a member of Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, and played as a 1st player for over 100 CD, videos, and DVDs. As a soloist, he played in recitals twice, and performed concertos with many different bands. He collaborated in performing and recording "ancient-instrumental music by baroque trombone"  with many band groups such as Heinrich-Schütz-Chorus Tokyo, Bach Collegium Japan, Orchestra Symposion, and Meiji Gakuin University.

 

     As a conductor, he taught in many bands and orchestras all around Japan. What is more, 7 Japanese school bands that he taught entered All-Japan Band Competition for the first time.  He also appeared in a NHK educational TV show called "Culture Series, Seeking for Beauty" as an ocarina maker and player with Humio Koizumi.

 

      His hobby is taking pictures, stargazing, cycling, ping-pong, inline skating, skying, and so on.    

      He has been a conductor for Gakushuin University Cheering Symphonic Winds since February 2016.

Percussion Coach:

Taro Someya 

 

     Taro Someya was born in Chiba prefecture. He has played the percussion since he was 10 years old. He graduated from Tokyo Conservatoire Shobi, percussion department. He studied under Atsushi Sugahara, Keichi Kitano, and Reiko Kouno. Not only "Roba House", his talents and  achievements show up in various fields: orchestras, bands, any kinds of ensembles, background music for movies, supports, performing as a guest, etc. As well as drams and concert-Latin percussion, he plays ethnic instruments so-called niche genre, and he has a great sense of balance and variety of sounds. To spread music in societies, he also works as an audition evaluator and as a teacher in many dram classes including YAMAHA Music School.
